Vermiglio

This Italian film, set in a small village in Northern Italy following WWII, centers on a large family whose lives are turned upside down by the arrival of a Sicilian soldier who falls in love with the eldest daughter.—Gina

Materialists

A powerful and modern love story. New York matchmaker Lucy is torn between the perfect man (Pedro Pascal) and her ex-boyfriend (Chris Evans). Fans of Past Lives won't want to miss the sophomore film written and directed by Celine Song.   —Jessica

Radio Days

This funny and warm remembrance of growing up in the shadow of WWII in Rockaway Beach, NY. is filled with hilarious stories and fantastic music from radio's "Golden Age." The final heartwarming scenes make it a terrific New Year's Eve watch. —Zach

Desk Set

While this isn't my favorite Hepburn/Tracy film, it follows a whipsmart reference Librarian (played by Hepburn) during the Holiday time around Thanksgiving and Christmas who has to fight for her job when a big super computer is installed but might be falling for the computer engineer (played by Tracy). —Gina

Thelma

Directed by Joachim Trier, this drama follows Thelma as she leaves her religious family to attend university. Her growing attraction to a classmate, Anja, leads to the reveal of her dangerous powers. Thelma is a supernatural coming of age story. —Jessica

3 Days of the Condor

Robert Redford is at his leading-man best in this fantastic thriller about a CIA bookworm thrown into a tangled web of international assassins and betrayal.  Faye Dunaway shines as an innocent woman dragged down into the churning plot.  Does the very last shot make it a holiday film?  You decide! —Zach

Trading Places

When a Wall Street broker and a smart street hustler swap places at Christmas some corrupt wealthy men get more than they bargained for in this classic comedy.  Hearkening back to Charles Dickens, it does feel like Christmas when a wealthy man has a life changing experience for the better (even if no ghosts are involved). —Gina

The Farewell

A young Chinese-American woman finds out that her family is keeping her grandma's cancer diagnosis a secret. Although dealing with a heavy topic, the film is moving, heartwarming, and funny.  —Jessica

Sleuth

One the best closed-house mysteries ever, this film features performances by Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier that made it the first movie ever to have two Best Actor Academy Award nominations in the same film.  Watching these two match wits and barbs as they fight to gain the upper hand is both thrilling and bitingly funny. —Zach
